Imoko Satou (佐藤 芋子)

Imoko Satou (also known as Imouko or Seiko Satou) is Yaniko’s younger sister and one of the most level-headed characters in Chainsmoker Cat.

Appearance

Imoko is a high school student who presents herself well compared to her messy older sister. She is often embarrassed by Yaniko’s behaviors and tries to suppress her own cat-girl traits to fit in with human society.

Personality

Unlike Yaniko, Imoko is:

• A diligent high school student
• Popular among her classmates
• Well-groomed and responsible
• Ashamed of her “feral” catgirl heritage

She frequently visits Yaniko’s apartment to clean up and try to help her sister, though her efforts never seem to last long.

Role in the Story

Imoko serves as the moral compass of the series. She represents what Yaniko could be if she got her life together. Her attempts to help Yaniko often lead to comedic situations, especially when Yaniko’s addiction gets in the way.

Trivia

• Her name “Imoko” contains “imo” which can mean “potato” in Japanese - a subtle joke about her more grounded nature compared to Yaniko
